Anti-government protestors (Photo by Luis Ascui/Getty Images)

Thousands of stranded tourists will be able to leave Thailand after anti-government protesters agreed to end their airport demonstrations.

The protesters, who where unhappy with the government in Thailand, took control of the airports in Bangkok more than a week ago.

They said they wouldn't leave until the government resigned.

But now a court has ruled the Prime Minister must step down, and his party must break up.

The court found Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's People Power Party (PPP), and two other parties, guilty of buying votes, which meant the election wasn't fair.

The ruling comes after months of protests led by the anti-government People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), who had taken control of the airports.

They had vowed to continue their protests until the entire government stepped down.

Passenger flights from the main international airport are expected to start from the 4 December.

Karen Matthews

The mum of nine-year-old Shannon Matthews has been found guilty of kidnapping her own daughter.

Shannon disappeared after a school trip in February, but was found 24 days later, in a flat just a mile from her home in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire.

After hearing all the evidence, a jury of 12 people has decided Karen Matthews is guilty of child cruelty, kidnapping her own daughter and imprisoning her.

A 40-year-old man, Michael Donovan, has been found guilty of the same charges.

Shannon Matthews
Shannon was missing for 24 days
During the 13-day trial, Leeds Crown Court heard how Shannon's mum and Donovan kept her hidden because they wanted to claim a £50,000 reward being offered by newspapers for her safe return.

When Shannon was reported missing, thousands of police officers took part in what became one of the biggest searches for a missing person the UK has ever seen.

Her mum went on TV appealing for Shannon to go home, even though she knew exactly where she was - at Michael Donovan's flat, down the road in Batley.

Michael Donovan
Michael Donovan was part of Shannon's extended family
Donovan is part of Shannon's extended family and when police raided his flat they found him hiding under a bed with the nine-year-old, who had been given medicine to make her sleepy.

They also found an elastic cord in the attic, which police think may have been used to stop Shannon running away.

Arrested

After she was found, friends and neighbours had a massive party to celebrate, but just days later Shannon's mum was arrested.

Now she's waiting to hear how she'll be punished for her crimes with Michael Donovan, but it's expected they'll be sent to jail for a very long time.

LA poem

Bad Day
Kay Ryan

Not every day
is a good day
for the elfin tailor.
Some days
the stolen cloth
reveals what it
was made for:
a handsome weskit
or the jerkin
of an elfin sailor.
Other days
the tailor
sees a jacket
in his mind
and sets about
to find the fabric.
But some days
neither the idea
nor the material
presents itself;
and these are
the hard days
for the tailor elf.

4 Elements of poetry`
Imagery and Figurative Language(metaphor, simile, create a mental picture)
-- They described with elfin tailor and also for it’s not really describing but also about “reveals” took my mind.

Sound(rhyme) - When we look at first sentence “Not every day
is a good day”, we can see that the word day repeat 2 times again, so we can know it’s rhyme there. When we look at whole poem, then we can find that “day” repeats every time like some days, bad days, days, day. Whenever we read this poem we can feel the rhyme.

Speaker (voice) - This poem is about bad day, so the whole poem is about bad things, and pretty sad, so I think the voice should be really low voice and being really quietly reading.

Form(lines, stanzas)
-- Each line the word was 3 or 4. Why is it happens ? I think it’s because of each line just contain one idea and one theme and story.

Knowing the components of culture, describe what each would look like in ancient Greece and Rome.

Ancient Greece especially had a culture about olympic. The Greeks took games of all kinds very seriously, but especially physical athletic competition. They think that the gods want to see how strong are they and how fit are they, and they especially think that the gods would see their strong body and think really cool, so they used oil and some other stuff to be a good looking body. In Greece when we say sports they especially think about "olympics." Therefore now I would write more about "olyimpic" Young men (from richer families who didn't have to work) in most Greek cities spent a lot of their time training for these competitions, and the best of them were chosen to compete against the best young men from other cities. Then they would all meet, at the Olympic Games or the Isthmian Games or elsewhere, and compete for prizes and for the favor of the gods. Of course these games also served as good training for the army, because all these men would be soldiers as well. The events were the same kind as in the Olympics today: running, jumping, throwing a javelin, and throwing a discus. Only men could compete.

Task A Hums

1. What is the Economic (business) system?

In Korea economic system was like almost poorist country in the world since 1953 ~ 1980, because we had the war with North Korea since 1950 ~1953, so everything in Korea were break so South Korea was almost poorist country in the world in 1950s ~ 1980s, but after 1980, Korea grew so rapidly about economic, they import and export a lot of stuff. Therefore Korea's economic grew up so fast. However one more problem in 1997 years, "IMF" Korea had a lot of adat from the other countries, but Korea did some campagin, so people can't spend their money to drink alcohol and smoking. They donate themselves to country and finally IMF problem has gone. ~ Therefore now Korea is one of the rich country in the world.

2. What does the Social system (daily life, classes, customs, etc.) look like?

In Korea there's one problem with social system, it's "racism", like for foreinger Koreans being sometimes rude to them. I think it's because, Korea had some serious historical problem with the other country, like in 1900 ~ 1945 years Korea colonised by Japan. Japan controled everything in Korea. Therefore for now Korean still can't forget about that huge historical problems, so I think they have racism in Korea. Another thing about Korea's social system is "Education system is way to hard". In Korea from elementary 1st grade they lose their freedom at all, they have to go cram school after their local school, if they don't have cram school then they will get F for every subject in school. My opinion for this is we have to get some more freedoms when we are young people.

3. What is the Political (government) system? Who has the power?

I think it's the president has a lot of power for our country, because whenever we have some meeting with like U.S or something, president should always go there and discuss about some problems between their country. Also always the president's opinion include in any decision for country, such as like tax problem. That's why do we care so much about president.

4. What are the Religions? Describe them in detail.

Korea has religions like Buddhism, and Confucianism, and also Catholic. People in Korea does not really fight with having problem with religions.

5. What are the various Arts (especially those your nation is known for)?

I think it's about sports, because when players get old and they have to stop to playing and new people will come and they might be specialize it and also might not be really good, so for EX) 38 old soccer players stop to play soccer anymore, and Korea national team was bad, but one time new person came to national team, and he's really good at soccer, so Korea became a strong country. Through this we can know.

6. What are various Technologies that are a part of life in your country?

Korea is one of the best country for technologies, such as many brends like samsung is from Korea and Hyundy is also from Korea, and also KIA is from Korea. Korea has many pc rooms but Japan had pc rooms faster than Korea, and now Korea has more pc rooms than Japan. Also many games are from Korea.

7. How does Geography affect ESPRAT in your home country? Go into rich details breaking down each component of ESPRAT.

In Korea there's cities in Korea. Seoul is the capital city in Korea most people live in Seoul or around Seoul. Every cities has different sounds, like sounds effect, seoul's Korean is the standard Korea language, but in Bu-San they add some effects in standard Korean in Seoul, and it looks weird to Seoul people. However still we can communicate each other.

FAT 5 Questions

5 FAT Question

1.Which country did the Ancient Greece invaded ?

2.How did the Ancient Greece was strong ? What did they do ?

3.Were there any racism by gender ??, Why did girls and boys learned different things ?

4.Why did people live in Sparta should went back to school when their age is 7 ? What’s different with the other cities ?

5. How did Ancient Greece become the best country in 5th and 4th century about economy ?

Effective communicator

What is an effective communicator?
-- Effective communicator is the meaning that we communicate with people with effective ways, for like listen really carefully when we talk with people, and we have to say clearly about our thinking and opinion you will need it later in society life.

-What does an effective communicator look like at HIS?
-- We are a family in HIS so we can tell teachers our opinion and thinking and they will respect us and help us.

-What is an example of a time you were an effective communicator?
-- I communicate with effective ways when I talk to some special people and when I interview with some famous people , but also I do communicate with friends with effective ways like respect them.

-What does 'effective communicator' have to do with poetry?
-- Because poetry is a short story, so if we don't write it with effective ways, and most people won't understand what we are trying to say.

-Is it important to effectively communicate my identity and culture? Why or why not?
I think it's really important, because at later in society we will absolutely need our communicate skill with effective ways.

What do government do ?

Government is organize of a country. Whenever citizens have problems, they visit government and government would solve questions. We probably can say that government people are representative people in that country. Government people lead their country like in any catergories, such as economic and environment, etc ,, like they count citizens tax and if there's something wrong they should solve that questions, so usually we can say that the government people do all things about a country. Varieties of their jobs are teachers for teaching students, because teaching is also part of their education system and also for country like when students grow up part of them might be a huge person and special person. Another jobs for government are like special offical for country, like police to protect their country from criminals. Everythings are connected by government, whenever we do some important thing, government should permit us to do something, and if they say we are not allow to do it, then we can't do it. We know how government is important for their country, so we care so much about government.

5 learning outcomes

I am going to write about how was I doing with 5 outcomes in 2 weeks.

Person of high character: We have a lot of new students here, most new students almost adapted, but still some of them are not really being active here, so I tried to be friendly with them, and show them respect. Sometimes I do some joke with my friends as a kidding, and often the kidding cross the line that I can't cross. I feel so sorry about it and I would think about it more next time when I do some joke with my friends and also during we play something.

Active learner: My English is getting better now, especially from 1 month ago, so I understand everything in class, and I know what to do, so it's really funny in class, so I ask whenever I have question about subjects, and teachers are always open mind, so I can have great relationship with them. Also for friends who have some problem with understanding and also for new students don't know how to do some activities, I help them.

Effective communicater: I think recently I am being really effective communicater in math class, because the section of what we are doing now in math is really curious. Also I like that kind of questions. To knowing something and gain our knowledge is really good thing, so I would be more effective communicater and I would like to get more knowledge.

Critical thinker and problem solver: There are still new students in our school, and some subject like a math, they might have some problems with doing GSP, so when new students ask me something I just solve their question if I know that question. Also think with critical way.

Community contributors: I think I do help people in our school, with any problems, but when I get to situations that I can't help them and I don't mind to help them, like playing soccer and they just come to me and asking me for help them. Then I get annoy to them, so sometimes I say "I will help you later", and it would be really cool if I can help them with any questions even the situation is kind of annoying. I will try !!

Science blogging

Blog: What science skills did you use during the SMASH Day activity? How do these science skills help us be better scientists?

I used gravity with doing the thing, like I thought that if we don't have anything hold it bottom I know it's going to fall down, so we made square with A4 paper, and hold the bottom of the stuff, that our group could even hold the thing, if the bottom was arch or something that it doesn't really have angle, it would be fall down right away.
I also thought about the how weight is going to be about holding thing between top and bottom, because if it's to light and top thing is to heavy it's going to fall down, and if it's fit it's going to be fit, so we thought about it and we used it to make our thing.

New school lessons on growing up !!!!!!!!

If your school lessons don't already include classes about growing up, how your body changes, relationships and having babies, they soon will.
At the moment, if you live in England your school decides how much they tell you about growing up and at what age.
Now the government wants to make sure that everyone learns the same stuff.
Lessons will start when you're five and over the years teach you more about the differences between boys and girls and what happens when you get older.
It's hoped that introducing the lessons in schools across England will help to reduce the number of teenage mums.
At the moment, more teenagers have babies in the UK than in any other country in Europe.
Lessons about the facts of life are already taught in Northern Ireland and Wales, but in Scotland it's still up to the schools.
But not everyone's happy about the lessons. Some people think it should be up to your mum and dad to talk to you about this kind of stuff.
And you could get slightly different lessons if you go to a religious school.

Under Maryland Street, Ties to African Past

Matthew M. Palus/Archaeology in Annapolis

ARTIFACT An X-ray, a photograph and a schematic drawing of a clay “bundle” filled with about 300 pieces of metal and a stone axe. The object dates to 1700 and differs from religious caches previously found in Maryland.

Over the years of exploring the old houses and streets of Annapolis, Md., archaeologists have uncovered a trove of artifacts of early American slave culture. Among them are humble remains connected with religious practices, which bear the stamp of the slaves’ West African heritage.

Matthew M. Palus/Archaeology in Annapolis

Early in the 18th century, as they were being baptized, African-Americans clung to “spirit practices” in rituals of healing and the invocation of ancestral and supernatural powers. Sometimes called black magic, these occult rites would persist in America in modified form, later, as voodoo and hoodoo.

University of Maryland archaeologists have discovered in Annapolis what they say is one of the earliest examples of traditional African religious artifacts in North America. It is a clay “bundle,” roughly the size and shape of a football, filled with about 300 pieces of metal and a stone axe, whose blade sticks out of the clay, pointing skyward.

The Treasury Department will make substantial profits on its investments in banks under the bailout program announced Tuesday — if the banks return to health within a few years. If not, the government could end up breaking even, or perhaps even lose money.

Matthew Cavanaugh/European Pressphoto Agency

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson Jr., speaking, in Washington. The government could recoup its investment to end the credit crisis, but only if the banks recover.

In a number of ways, Washington’s proposal comes with fewer strings attached than the rescue plans in European countries. That would seem to place the American government at a disadvantage, but Washington could benefit if that relative leniency helps banks recover quickly and provides a big profit on the equity stake it is receiving.

Wildfires raging in California

Huge wildfires are causing chaos in California, in America.

So far, two people have died and about 12,000 others have had to leave their homes as the flames tear through neighbourhoods north of Los Angeles.

More than 1,000 firefighters are battling to put out the blazes, but officials say strong winds are fanning the flames, making it really difficult.

The man in charge of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has declared a state of emergency in two of its counties.

Wildfires are a big problem in southern California between October and February.

That's because warm, desert winds blow into the area drying out plants and making it easier for fires to start and spread quickly.

Which is more dense—a stack of 5 NT coins or a stack of 20 NT coins?

I think stack of 20 NT is more dense than stack of 5 NT coin, because 5 NT is 5 coins of 1 NT and 20NT is 20 coins of 1NT so 20 coins are bigger than 5 coins for volume and mass. Through this we can know that when we have more pices of stuff and more volume and mass, and when we have a lot of pieaces of stuff, space is going to be increase and it becomes more dense then these are dense than something other stuff.

Although US elections happen thousands of miles from the UK they are often big news here too.

That's because decisions the US government makes have an impact in lots of other countries like Iraq and in places like the Middle East.

Every four years people in the US vote to elect their president. The four years between elections is called a term of office. The next presidential election is in 2008.

Politicians can only serve two terms of office. If they win two elections they are not allowed to stand again in a third one.

There are other elections halfway through each term of office called mid-terms.

In mid-terms a president isn't elected but other US politicians are.

Is air matter ? SCI8

I think air is matter, because it's made from something. Such as Oxygen we breath everyday and it is air, we can't grab it however, we can mass it. For example: We put air in a balloon and it becomes like increase a little weight like 3 grams. So air has mass, and for volume, the volume of air is always different, because when we put air in balloon it becomes circle and for box it becomes squre. When we put some chemical substance it can become oxygen and something else about airs.

Why Students need to blog ??

A students responsibility is to study, but when we blog, it's like playing, because you can write about anything on the blog no one care about what you write, even if you are write about the sports, it is learning something, but you might think that you are having fun with blog, you forget that you are learning. Then you are going to get a lot of knowledge.
For some reasons we can't explain something about profession terms, however if you use a blog you can put media in here and show program, so you can explain much better and a audience will get what you mean easily.
Most students are think that study is really boaring, like paper test, and we need to erase, write ... boaring but if you use a blog you can correct them easily like just delete everything with one keybord, so it's more confidence and a students study with a computer at first time so some students think "wow this is really funny !" so a students can study really hard as possible as they can.

Where Do They Live? Some tigers live in parts of North Korea, eastern Russia, and China. Other tigers live in warm areas such as India and parts of Southeast Asia. Tigers that live in cold areas are bigger than those that live in tropical areas. A tiger lives for about 26 years. And unlike most members of the cat family, tigers enjoy water.

After read Paul. polka

Paul Polak, founder of the nonprofit International Development Enterprises, has spent 25 years working to eradicate poverty in Bangladesh, India, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and other countries in the developing world.

His perhaps-surprising conclusion: Government subsidies for the rural poor often make things worse.

Instead, Polak teaches families and farmers — many of whom live on a dollar a day and own perhaps an acre of land — how to increase crop yields with simple technologies, such as cheap, foot-operated water pumps and inexpensive drip hoses for irrigation.

And Polak argues that his approach can make a difference in impoverished communities in the U.S., as well as in developing economies.

Last year Polak's organization received a $13.4 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support its ongoing work. His new book is Out of Poverty: What Works When Traditional Approaches Fail.

Copy and paste : Economist Jeffrey Sachs says that the world's population, climate change, poverty and resource use are all closely intertwined. In his book Common Wealth: Economics for a Crowded Planet, Sachs discusses the intersection of economics and the environment and argues that humanity must address global problems on a global scale.

"One-sixth of the world remains trapped in extreme poverty unrelieved by global economic growth," Sachs writes. "The poverty trap poses tragic hardships for the poor and great risks for the rest of the world."

After went to the Hong-Kong.

I traveled Hong-Kong, there was lots of building, and high building, I think Hong-Kong is small so that's why Hong-Kong has high building.
I was there in 4 days, my family just walked there, we could see lots of store, I can say Hong-Kong is for shopping.
First day I went to the Kao-Loon by walk, that time I was like dead, because I walked 12 hours we saw many store, many famous brand was there, so my brother and my mother were really like them, however me and my father do not like them ! so for me and my father it was really terrible.

students out comes

3/21
Community Contributions
-- I think I did more engage more than last week, sometimes I don't know about what's going on during the class, so I just stay class during 1 hour 25 minute, that's really board, but this week I was like such as just ask what if I don't understand it is okay just ask about I don't understand, that's nice

Active Learners
-- What if I don't understand something I was just ask then I was present something and lots of engage that was so cool.

Critical Thinkers and Problem Solvers
-- In the humanity class, we saw some news and think about it, then I was critical thinker it was about Taiwan Election, so Taiwan should get together with china or just independent country, but both things that I am really worry because these two things we have dangerous, so terrible.

Effective Communicators
-- I was just engage a lot, I think may be I will be like this, my grade might be able to get really higher and my feel gonna be really happy I promise.

Persons of High Character
-- Just present a lots and also ask something if I don't know when we keep do that we are gonna really nice high character.

After read "China Tensions could sway vote in Taiwan"

They are two choice, one thing is Taiwan and China get together, which mean is Taiwan going to be together with China. another choice is Taiwan just get independent country.
In these two choice I agree about "Taiwan just going to be independent country" because of when Taiwan get together with China, it will be lots of trouble, because of their language is different, and in the world all people might be able to discrimination, because China is really famous more than Taiwan.
Suppose to Taiwan get together with China, so they are just same kind of people, because they are same country, but some China might be able to, discrimination Taiwan people.
Another reason is when Taiwan get together with China, Taiwan going to have lots of dangerous and trouble, because during the get together with each other, their mind might not be able to get together, so they might be fight even they might be able to happen about war, it is terrible.

Reflection on the student outcomes.

3/18
Community Contributions
-- I engaged about some class, but some class I didn't engage very well, because I didn't understand about what teacher and I don't know about what's going on in the class, so I couldn't pay attention about some class.

Active Learners
-- I think this part is pretty well, because I asked many question, about whatever, even really little and small things that I asked and I presented many.

Critical Thinkers and Problem Solvers
-- I don't know about this because I didn't have any to critical think and problem solve.

Effective Communicators
-- I can make me sure more ask and more engage, ask something, even share to ask that's okay just ask then find about the solve.

Person of high Character
-- We can more present and ask and engage, that's make us feel better also teacher will be better to feel about ourselves, and also our engagement grade will be higher

After read student 2.0

I think this paragraph remind me about the don't be lazy, it will be effect you very bad.
I opinion about that, because sometimes I am lazy, so it was effected very bad.
I am going to talk about my real experience.
EX1) When I was in Korea in the Sunday my friends called me and play something, but that time I was really sleepy so I just said, sorry T_T I cannot go because I have some work to do. however it is not work just want to be sleep, so I was just slept, and after 1 day I went to the school, that time my friends said to me, hey Duke !! we were really lucky we get 1400 NT just walk around and get money so we went to the PC room and play ~~!! it was really good, that time my feeling was really bad..
So anyway this student 2.0 remind me about the don't be lazy, and I realized and I won't be lazy.
